"Do it!" "No." "Do it!" I shook my head again. "DO IT OR I WILL TELL GERARD THAT YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON HIM!" My jaw dropped, "You wouldn't dare." I said grabbing Frankie's arm. He smirked, "GERARD!" He called, I blushed. "Frank stop!" I dug my nails into his arm. "GERARD!" He cried again. I pushed him onto his back and covered his mouth with my hand. His teeth nipped at my palm, I pulled away. "Ow, butthole." I said tending to my sore. I heard his footsteps then nearing the room me and Frank were in. "I hate you." I repeated over and over in Frank's direction. The door opened, "Hm?" I turned around, he was smiling at us. "Gerard come play this game with us." Frank waved him over; Gerard sat on the floor next to me. "What's the game?" He asked, "Truth or Dare." I murmured. "What?" He lowered his head and looked up at me under the corner of his eye. "Truth or Dare." I said a little louder. "Ok, I'm in." The smile, if I looked at it long enough I think it'd melt.

Hours passed, I really didn't believe this game was capable of being played that long. "Ok my turn." Frank said. I shot him a mean glare, every time it was his turn he always made me and Gerard do something. He started off with a kiss on the cheek, then a kiss on the lips, I knew what was coming next. "Gerard, truth or dare?" Gerard looked at me, "Dare." This is what happens when the alcohol is flowing, everyone knows the next move. Frank giggled, "I dare you to shove your tongue down Veronica's throat." Frank laughed harder; he fell onto his back sipping his beer. Gerard scooted closer to me, his fingers grazed my cheek. His lips attached to mine, his pointed tongue pried my lips apart. I wished this was happening for real, by for real I mean minus the alcohol and the fact we were playing a game. Also minus the fact this whole thing was a dream.

"Wake up." Frank nudged my arm and rolled over to his side. "You ruined my dream." I sighed and sat up against the headboard. I guess when you've been best friends with someone since you were 5 it's ok to sleep in the same bed. "Were you dreaming of him?" Frank asked. "Yeah, it's unfortunate. I'm the most pathetic person in the world." "Hey I didn't say it." Frank yawned and rubbed his eyes, "Good morning." He looked up at me; he looked like a little kid who just woke up from an afternoon nap. "Why don't you just suck your thumb?" I said sarcastically. "I just broke that habit remember?" Frank was the only person who understood my humor, it's probably one of the reasons we got along so well. "FRANK, VERONICA BREAKFAST!" Mrs. Iero called from downstairs. "School ruins lives." Frank said crawling from under the sheets. "No poop."

Catholic School really doesn't exist, the only thing that separates it from public schools is uniforms and nuns. The students still cut class, fight, smoke in the bathrooms or outside, and make out in the hallways. "At least I get to wear pants." Frank whispered. "Shut up." I growled. The bus dropped us off in front of the decrepit building, it was "historical", or that's what they told us on the first day. Apparently someone really important got shot there, sounds like a perfect place to teach God eh? Frank went our separate ways once we got everything out of our shared locker. We lied to the locker assignment person by telling her that if we didn't have a locker together, our mothers would be very upset, call the school, and have her sent somewhere bad. She was a student so she naively believed us, it was so easy. "See you in espanol." Frank called from the end of the hallway. I shot him a peace sign and walked to art class.
There were 2 reasons why I never dared to cut art, 1. I love art with a passion & 2. Gerard's the teacher. Yes you heard me right, teacher. He had just graduated from art school when they offered him the job. I remember walking in the first day and remembering him from Frank's first practice with My Chemical Romance the night before. In my opinion, I don't think the band will go anywhere. They're amazing but kids don't get them and I highly doubt that adults will get them either. "Hey." He said when I walked into the room. "Hey." I waved and took my seat in the back by the window. The bell rang and more students flew into the room hoping Gerard wouldn't notice that they were late. "Ok guys, life drawings today." He said as he passed back assignments from last week. "Veronica, this is excellent." He said smiling down at me. "Thanks." I said, my eyes didn't move from staring outside. If I would've made eye contact with him, I would've turned to moosh and my words would be considered gibberish. "Can you stay after class today? I'd like to talk to you." Now I had to make eye contact, my ability to form words was gone so I nodded.

After class, I lingered until Gerard acknowledged me. My mind wandered in thoughts of what he was going to ask me. "Will you go out with me tonight?" "You're amazing, I love you." I laughed; aloud unfortunately, he looked up from his desk. "You can sit." He said pushing his long locks from his face. I sat in the front desk and waited patiently until he was finished. "Ok, I wanted to talk to you about your work. For being in Art 1, this is amazing work." Ok so in reality my work was amazing and not me, it still pertained to me so I'll settle. "Why don't you go on to Art 2?" Because if I go to Art 2, you won't be my teacher. "I think I have more to learn." I said twiddling my thumbs. "Liar, you drew still life and we're not even covering that for another week." I blushed, I couldn't help that I knew what I was doing. "I don't want to go to Art 2, I'm fine here." "It's too easy for you, as a teacher I have to challenge you and I'm not doing my job." "I won't know anyone in Art 2." Wow, that sounded stupid. A junior in high school worried about not knowing anyone. "You don't know anyone here." Ouch, that hurt. "I know you." "On a strictly educational basis. You know all your teachers that way." "All my other teachers aren't in rock bands with my best friend are they?" That sounded mean, I didn't mean for it to sound mean. At least he found it funny, "True but just think about it. I don't want to be holding you back when you can do so much more." I nodded and grabbed my bag, when teachers end like that it's your que to leave. "Tell Frank I'll see him at practice later ok?" He called to me from his desk. "Sure."

History was boring; I know Abraham Lincoln got shot. I've known it since 3rd grade, why does this particular lesson keep following me? Math passed fairly quickly and then it was time for lunch. I sat at our table and waited for Frank, he arrived seconds later. "Not eating today?" I shook my head no; I wasn't a fan of eating in front of a large group of people. I'm probably the most paranoid person in the world but it's just something I do. I always feel like they're watching and that I look like I'm gorging myself. Frank returned with a sandwich and fries, he offered me one but I declined. "Frank how can you eat this poop?" I asked him as I started some homework. "I don't think of it as cafeteria food, I think of it as...something from a foreign land." "Yeah a foreign land called poop." He laughed, "You suck." He said wiping his mouth, peanut butter and jelly shot up his cheek bone. "So how was art class?" He asked with that tone, that tone that made art class sound like an orgy or something. "I stayed after today; he wanted to talk to me about joining Art 2." "Told you, you're good enough to be in there." I rolled my eyes in Frank's direction, "I know that but I don't want to be in that class." "Veronica, you can't take Art 1 again. Eventually you'll have to go to Art 2." "Not if I start failing Art 1." Frank smacked my arm; it made a loud enough sound for a few kids to look in our direction. "I'm not going to fail; I'll go to Art 2 next year. Hopefully by then I'll be over Ge-Hey Gerard." I said as he walked over to our table. "Hey, listen Frank I have to cancel practice tonight. We're having a teachers meeting." "Oh ok, we'll just wait till Wednesday then?" He nodded, "Later Frank." He said, Frank waved with a mouthful. "Keep thinking about Art 2 Veronica." He said with a smile, my spine tingled. A huge grin was plastered on my face, almost like Barbie. When Gerard was gone, Frank busted out laughing. "What!?" I snapped. "You're an idiot you know that." "Shut up."

My last two classes of the day were shared with Frank. We sat together in the back during Literature usually doodling or scribbling down things that we had to remember we said that was funny. "So I ask you this class, what is poetry?" Our teacher, Miss. Bliss, was probably the most boring person in the world. She was clearly textbook; she never put the damn thing down. "Ok so your homework tonight is-Oh hello Mr. Way." She said with a smile, I looked up from what I was writing. Gerard walked swiftly to her side, whispered something, his hand was on the small of her back. "Frank, are Gerard and Miss Bliss, you know..." I trailed off, I couldn't picture it. She's so...boring and he's so, amazing. "I don't know, it looks like it doesn't it?" The bell rang, Miss Bliss was giggling. "Oh um-you know what, no homework today. Have a good afternoon." As Frank and I walked past her and Gerard, a slight flame of rage lit up inside of me. He was huddling over her desk and she was trying to sexily hold a pen in her mouth. Frank saw my staring, "Come on." He said pulling me out of the room. Now I was really stupid, to think that I'd even have a chance if he likes girls like that.

I couldn't concentrate in Economics; I made Frank cook whatever we were cooking. We failed for the day but I really didn't care, I was going to die alone anyway. No need for cooking, sewing, changing diapers. "Don't be bummed." Frank said as we left our locker.

"He's just one person, there's someone out there for you I promise. You're a great person." He wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"Frank, I don't even deserve your friendship."

"Shut up, you're such a martyr. He's one dude, he's not that good looking and you knew that you were never gonna get him anyway."

"Well, I mean...yeah you're right." I decided to give in, there's no point in arguing with Frank because in this situation he'd just win it. When we got back to Frank's house, we returned to his room.

"I'm tired." He said throwing himself on his bed. "We don't have any homework." I said lying next to him.

"Speak for yourself." He said with a yawn,

"Well if you want to sleep, I'll do some for you." When I'm sad, I do homework. Homework gets my mind off things because it fills my head with annoying numbers and metaphors instead.

"I love you." Frank said kissing my cheek.

I sighed, "I love you too."

"Mr. Way, can I talk to you?"

He spun around in his chair. "What's up?" Those eyes, they were so dark but light.

"Uh, do you...never mind." I began to walk away.

"Veronica, wait." I felt him grab my arm, I turned to face him.

"You're perfect." He pushed my bangs out of my face.

He leaned forward, our lips almost touching, "Gerard..."

If he ruined one more dream I was going to shoot him. He giggled,

"Your mom called, she wants us home."

    "Oh you're invited?" He nodded,

"Come on." I got off the ground; I guess this is where I fell asleep.

"Get much of my work done?" He asked,

"I hope so, I remember doing some of it before falling asleep."

"We'll finish it at your house." We walked downstairs; I thanked Mrs. Iero for letting me stay the night. She said she was almost expecting me crashing over now so that thank you was enough to last me until I stopped sleeping over. Frank hugged her goodbye and we headed to my house.

"Wait, my mom's not home." I said when we were in my house.

"I know." He smiled a devious smile.

"Frank Anthony Iero, I swear to God-."

"Chill, she'd probably want you home tonight anyway. You haven't been home in 4 days."

"There's a reason for that." I said, it was almost inaudible.

    "What?" Frank asked.

"Nothing, go finish your homework. I'll put in a pizza or something."

"Is everything ok here?" He asked.

    "Yeah, don't worry."

Luckily Frank and I fell asleep before my mom and dad returned from work. I didn't like talking to them or being around them. It'd be fine, then my dad would flip out cause his pills weren't facing forward and they'd start arguing and it would all come around to me. I heard something hit the ground and I woke up; it was 3 in the morning.

"f**k!" I heard whoever it was shout.

"Frank, Frankie wake up." I said patting his stomach.

He grunted, "What?" He whined and rolled to his side.

    "Frank someone's downstairs."

"Maybe it's your mom or dad."

"No, once they're asleep, they're out cold. Someone's down there."

He pushed the blanket off him, "I'll go check it out."

"No, don't. What if they hear you?"

"Then I guess you'll have to find a new best friend." I slapped his arm.

"Shut up. Just be careful ok?"

He nodded, "Don't worry." Frank crept out of my room and stuck his head out.

"I don't see anyone." He whispered back to me.

"Ok, just come back in here I'm scared." He closed the door and walked back over to the bed.

"You'd tell me if something was wrong right?" He asked putting his arm around my shoulder and pulling me into his chest.

    "Yeah, of course." I replied.

"Ok, go to sleep now. Sweet dreams."

Waking up at my house was way different than waking up at Frank's. My mom never had breakfast cooked for me, she never called to wake me up, and she never kissed me goodbye. I got dressed quickly and waited impatiently for Frank at the bottom of the stairs.

"COME ON!" I called to him every so often.

"Ok Jesus." He said walking out of the bathroom still tying his tie.

"Bye mom, bye dad." I said as we rushed past the table. They didn't move, they were too engulfed in the world's latest tragedies that were in today's paper. Frank smoked 4 cigarettes in the car while driving to school.

"Thank God your parents let you drive." He said exhaling the sweet smelling nicotine.

"Yeah, they gave me the car so I'll eventually get out of their lives."

"Aha! I knew something was wrong. You have to tell me now."

"Frank", I pulled into the parking lot,

"I'll tell you during lunch or something ok?" He let out a heavy sigh.

"Fine." We both unbuckled our seatbelts and headed into the terrible place that society called school.

The first thing I see when I walk into the building is my horrid Literature teacher talking to my dreamy Art teacher. "What does he see in her?" I asked Frank as we passed them.

"She's hot V." He said bluntly.

    "She is not hot."

"Yeah she is and maybe they have things in common." I rolled my eyes, on the inside Frank was making sense but I didn't want to admit it to him.

"Whatever." I said leaning back against the other lockers.

"Here's your Art book." Frank said handing it to me.

"Thanks, so I'll see you later." I said as I began walking towards the stairs.

"Yeah, have fun." I stuck my tongue out at him and followed the stream of students up the stairs. I just stood outside the Art room door until the bell rang. For the first time I was contemplating whether to go in or not. I know, I sound stupid that I'm actually letting this insignificant thing get to me but it sucks when you put feelings out for somebody and you get zero back. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...DIINNNGG!! The bell rang, I took a deep breath and reached for the doorknob.

"Ok, well since 2nd hour is being held up for the book fair, you'll have to have a double period with me today." Gerard addressed the class with this first. I tried to hide my happiness but I mean, it was exciting.

"So um, the regular period will be spent doing the usual art thing and the second period...we'll just wing it. Everyone ok with that?" The class made a sound split between the oink of a pig and the moo of a cow.

"Nice, so take out you're drawing pads. Today, I want you to draw someone in the room or something you see that catches your attention in the room." I immediately began drawing Gerard, or Mr. Way. I can never call him Mr. Way; it's the complete opposite of how I know him. Mr. Way is not fitting for a singer of a rock band. Luckily for me he didn't move much from where he was sitting at his desk. He would push his hair out of his face once or twice or grab a different pen but he never moved his body in a new way. I wanted this drawing to be the best thing I had ever drawn in my life, I wanted it to be perfect like I see him as.
