I'll be posting random poetry I've written over the years here. I wrote a poem today, and it's definitely not my best considering the fact that my head is in a really dark place right now, but I feel like posting it.

There's a Hopeless Romantic Inside Me and She's Dead

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
But that’s nothing new to you.
Just a bunch of dead cells floating around,
No time to dump them out.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
Skin growing purple over the months.
It’s been forever since you let her go,
But her body’s still slumped within my chest.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
Maybe it started with the virgin you took to your bed.
Maybe it’s how she shook and trembled,
But after the loss she felt nothing but numb.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
She committed suicide when you snatched her away.
But the scent of murder still drips from her hair,
And your expression at the burial says it all.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
Her bones are thinning and turning to dust.
It’s the kind of closure you’ll never get,
When she closes her eyes and steps from the ledge.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
I used to know her name.
But now she’s buried in the tissue of my lungs,
    And her memory fades away.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
Four years later and there’s nothing left.
Her hair was once laced with flowers,
But now they’re dry and broken stems.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
And you’re bringing flowers to her grave.
The flacid petals between my thumbs,
    It means almost nothing now.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
But if she were alive she’d be laughing.
Because all the things you’re doing now,
    Will never bring her back.

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
    Maybe you feel her too.
She sleeps behind my eyelids and hides in a stare,
But then you never see that, do you?

There’s a hopeless romantic inside me and she’s dead,
She’d really like to thank you.
Because ever since you, the feelings are gone,
There is nothing left for anyone.

  3. ^^ I agree. Although the tone of the poem was very dark, I really liked the way it was written. It was very beautifully written. How long have you been writing poetry for? I've never been very good myself.
