Chapter 1
Saying she was odd would be an understatement. She had more peircings in her ear than I had on my entire body, her black hair never looked brushed but I assumed this was just a statement of some kind. The first time I saw her was from my window, I was looking down at the street when a moving van pulled up to the house next door. A girl in knee high black boots, a pleated skirt and black t-shirt stepped out of the van. She was followed by a man and a woman, I assumed them to be her parents, all three of them had the same black hair.
The next time I saw her, she was storming out of her house, her father stood on the doorstep screaming after her. She disapeared around the corner and he went back inside. She always went outside late at night to smoke, from where I was watching her she always looked so sad. But I never spoke to her and I never said anything, just watched her occasionally.
The first day of school rolled around sooner that I would have liked. The blistering heat of July gave way to the soft chill of August. School uniforms were bought and summer reading was finished in a hury. School suplies were bought and my mom asked me what type of lunch I wanted her to pack.
My black messenger bag was filled with usless school supplies and my brown bagged lunch was smushed somewhere at the bottom. I locked the door of the house early that morning and shoved the keys in my pocket. I stood there for a second, mentally prepairing myself for what was sure to come that day. I heard the slam of a door and out of the corner of my eye I saw the girl I had been watching all summer step out of her house.
She had a red apple clutched tightly in her hand, she wore the same black boots she had worn the first day I saw her, a pleated skirt showed her knees anda white shirt bore the Queen of Peace school crest. She took a violent bite of the apple.
"Hi," I said, turning slightly to look at her. She didn't turn, just kept looking out at the road. "I'm Frank."
"Bella." she replied, a black car pulled up to her house, she climbed into it and slammed the door.
