I know. That was really cool what Green Day did. All bands could definitely learn a thing or two from them. That's why they're so great!!!

But if I were that girl I still think it was cool. Not as cool as playing with them, but cool.

And also; what has being nice to fans got to do with being over-rated? Lick Green Day's asses much?! Just because MCR don't humiliate people onstage, doesn't mean they're not at all nice to their fans.

Agreed it's still pretty cool.

But, I disagree. Just because they dont do such things doesn't mean anything.
Sure they don't bring people up onstage to play with them but they still care.
When somebody falls in the audience or theres something going on that shouldn't be they do stop songs and address it. Even recently.
They definitely do treat their fans well. A lot of bands dont do that.
Just sayin.

As for the whole over-rated thing I don't think they are.
If anything I'd say they're kind of underrated, them as a band and their music.
The image however may be over-rated, if that makes sense.
People shit on them before even really listening to a song, so many people I've come in contact with have.
Just because of the way certain fans act or some preconceived notions and mindless labeling. In that aspect I believe they're underrated. Mainly because lyrically they're one of the best bands I've heard. The words to their songs in my opinion hold a lot of weight and meaning. And a lot of people are missing out because they buy into bullshit and never give My Chem's music a chance. And I believe a lot of "haters" would actually like their music if they gave it a proper listen.

In the "media" or what have you, theres way more "over-rated" bands then My Chem, anyways.

And the whole saving lives thing...its kind of a you get it or you dont thing.
I'm not going to say this band "saved my life" literally because I wasn't about to kill myself and heard a song or had a lyric pop into my head which made me reconsider. And honestly I'm sure not many people had that experience. Personally for me, this band helped me save myself and find a purpose. I was legit depressed at one point and those lyrics and those guys, even were the only thing that made me smile or want to get up in the morning and made life feel worth it.
Now, however I have more than a few things that keep me going. But they're definitely still high on the list, them and their music.
I'll go as far as to say majority of My Chem's fans probably feel the same. This bands inspires you to find your own way. Least thats what I get out of it.

I agree with Linzi Sky, its a mental and emotional thing.

At my show, back in '07, they brought up some people on stage and sang happy birthday to them. :]

I never dubbed them the only band that does that.
But in the same breath there are bands that don't.
I think its admirable of them and any other bands that do so, thats all I was trying to get across.

Not to be in the defending-mode, but heck, what the fuck do you expect from them? Honestly, I might not admire them as I did long ago. But the hell, they are fucking humans.

Yes, they don't pick you to go up to the stage. At least thank God you had the possibility of seeing them live. Yes, they stop a gig because it's going out of control in the mosh-pit- have you ever heard of a helping hand? Try to suffocate yourself in that shit and see them not caring if you die or not. Then you would go arguing because "they are selfish pricks."

And holy-freaking-God, every band is overrated after some time. They gain fame, they gain money, they can care about you or how much you love 'em. Because as much as they care for their fan base, they have a life.

The fans aren't exactly the center of their lives- get over it already. If you're always saying that they are not heroes, why then you are asking for more and more because nothing isn't enough for you.

You don't like the band, it's okay. But for fuck's sake, don't be so pushy- it's not the end of the world.
